Sean Murphy Wins Photographer Of The Year 2007

On Monday the 14th of May, Sean Murphy became the Photographer of The Year for Mallow Camera Club. The annual competition is open to all members of the club. This year the three judges travelled from Cork Camera Group and viewed over 200 Images of club members work in four categories, Digital Projection, Monochrome, Colour Slide & Colour Prints. After a slight score count issue it turned out that the eventual winner was Sean Murphy. For Sean to win  photographer of the year for Mallow Camera Club is a great honour. The Club itself recently finished in Third Place Overall in the National Photographic Finals of Ireland, another great achievment. Second place went to John Hooton & Third place went to Morgan O’Neill. Sean will be presented with the winning trophy at a later date, which has yet to be decided.

The club also had a section open to novice members, in which John Hogan was successful. John displayed some very creative images through a wide section of subjects and media to clinch the section. Second place went to David Nelson & Third place went to John O’Flynn.Congratulations both to Sean Murphy and John Hogan from all club members.

Best colour Slide went to John Hooton for one of his dramatic and award winning Landscape images. Best Colour Print went to Sean Murphy for his Australian 6 am Sunrise. Best Digital Projection again went to Sean Murphy for his very detailed old style kitchen interior.  The best Monochrome print went to John Doheny for a beautifully composed footprints in the sand.

The club Chairman John Hogan thanked all on the night for participating and helping out and welcomed the visitors who showed great interest in the competion .He also thanked the  members from Cork Camera Group who Judged the event.
