The SACC regional round of the National Print & Projected Image Competition (formerly known as Print & Slide competition) was held at the Park Hotel, Clonmel on Sunday last, 7th December. This competition is a qualifying round for the national finals . There were several hundred entries from many of the camera clubs in the southern counties.
Mallow camera club was very well represented with members from all levels participating in the event. The competition was split into different categories for both advanced and intermediate. There were sections for Colour Print, Mono Print & projected image. The club results are as follows

A reminder to all members that the Club’s Annual Dinner will take place at the Hibernian Hotel Mallow on Thursday night, 11 December at 8pm. Further details from Club Chairman John Hogan.

Mallow Camera Club are proud to announce that members of Dundalk Photographic Society will be visiting Mallow to exhibit their work.  Dundalk Photographic Society has been very successful over the years with many of their members winning awards in competitions in Ireland and abroad.

Brian Hopper and Ciaran DeBhal will show their work which has helped Dundalk P S to become one of the most successful clubs in Ireland.  Visit www.dundalkphoto.com to see examples of Brain and Ciaran’s work.

The meeting will take place at 8pm sharp on Friday 7th November at the new Mallow GAA complex and is open to all.  Members of other clubs are welcome to attend.

Digital images are required for selection for the upcoming 3rd FIAP Club’s World Cup competition. New Competition Secretary Sean Murphy and outgoing secretary David Lavery will both accept images for the competition. If emailing please send your digital files suitable for printing up 12×16 inches (300dpi) to David Lavery, email davsca@eircom.net or Sean Murphy, email sean.murphy.ie@gmail.com
Digital files must be with with either David or Sean by Friday 26th September 2008.

Mallow Camera Club held its AGM on Monday 15th September. It was a night for some outgoing members to be replaced by some new Committee members. Outgoing chairman John Hogan thanked all for their hard work throughout the past year. The new officers are as follows:

Sean Murphy’s image ” Uncle Tim ” is progressing well in the Digital Photo Magazine competition. The competition is open to both Amateur & Professional photographers. The closing date for entries and voting is September 30th. Members are welcome to vote for there favourite image. Sean’s image can be seen at the following link. Mallow Camera Club will kick off the 2008/2009 season on Monday 15th September. The AGM  will take place on that night, and a programme for the Autumn will be announced. All current members are encouraged to attend. New members are also welcome on the night. Hope to see ye all there.

The club would like to offer sympathy to the family of Deborah McDowall (nee Lysaght). Deborah passed away on September 1st at Marymounth Hospice Cork. She was an active member of the club for many years and took part in many club outings and competitions. She will be sadly missed by all club members.

Closing Date for Tallaght Photographic Society’s 18th International Photographic Salon of Photographic Art.
IPF Gold Medals will be awarded for the best landscape and sports images in the competition.
This years event has approval from the Photographic Society of America this is the first salon in Ireland to have this kind of approval.
