The 2008 photographer of the year took place for Mallow Camera Club on Monday 19th of May. There were 298 entries from over twenty members of the club. The competition was based on the top five scoring images from each member.

The 2008 Irish photographic finals took place over the weekend, Thurles Camera Club hosted the event at the Tipperary Institute which proved to be a very good venue. The club got off to a great start at this weekends IPF National Club Finals when club members John Hogan, Bríd Coakley and Morgan O’Neill all achieved photographic distinctions in the Saturday sitting.

On Monday 21st of April John Hogan will demonstrate with fellow members what is involved in the selection process of a panel for distinction accreditation. John will be looking for opinions from fellow members on his selection of prints. Fellow members with images for selection are also welcome to show there work.

Due to family reasons our special guest Gerrit Groshart, who was due to visit the club on Monday night 10th March, has had to cancel his visit. Gerrit will not be judging the IPF Natioal Nature Finls on Sunday 9th March either.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Mallow Camera Club members Denise O’Connor and Seán O’Riordan travelled to South Africa last November to work with the Niall Mellon Township Trust. Gerrit hails from the Netherlands, has an EFIAP distinction, and is a renowned nature photographer.

On Sunday the 27th January the 2008 SACC Nature Photography Competition was hosted by Limerick & District Camera Club. The competition was judged in two categories, Flora and a Fauna. Entries consitsted of colour prints and slides from members of SACC clubs.
