It was another successful day for Mallow Camera Club at the SACC Print and Slide competition held in Clonmel on Sunday 09 December. There were 234 entries for the SACC competition which included three sections, Slide, Colour Print, and Monochrome Print.
John Hooton won the Seamus Scullane Memorial Trophy for the second year running for the best image in the competition. John also won the best slide image of the day for haunting image of a remote river in the Kerry mountains. John was also highly commended for a beach shot taken in Kerry. Morgan O’Neill received second place in the Colour Print (open section) for a dramatically lit abandoned house interior. Bríd Coakley was also highly commended for a low vantage point image of water rushing around a beach rock.
John Hogan (Club Chairman) was delighted when he came first in both the Colour Prints and the Mono Prints for the novice section. This was a terrific result for John as there was a very large entry. John Hogan’s colour print was of a spider guarding his web, while his mono print was a dramatic portrait of his daughter. Well done John.
This is Morgan O’Neill’s second prize within a few weeks as he picked up a first place prize in the recent Drogheda Photographic Club’s open competition in the colour section.
John Doheny also picked up a prize in Drogheda for best Mono print of a Portuguese beach. Both John Doheny and Morgan O’Neill fought off very strong competition to recieve these awards.
Well done to all prize winners.

The club had two excellent panels and were delighted to finish in Third place overall. This is the best result the club has chalked up in this prestigious event which is the most important in the IPF calendar. In 2006, when the competition was held in Mallow, the club finished in fourth place overall.

<a href="http://mallowcameraclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/04/mallow-cc-finals-2007-web.jpg" title="Mallow Camera Club Members - Standing L to R: John Doheny, John Hogan, John Hooton, Seán Murphy & Colman Culhane.
The club finished in joint second place in the Colour Print section – up from third place in 2006. In the Monochrome Print section the club finished third – a considerable improvement on fifth place last year. Sixteen clubs from all over the country took part in the competition which was won by Drogheda Photographic Club.

John Doheny picked up a Bronze Medal for his photograph ‘Anticipation‘ which was awarded third place in the Individual Monochrome Print section.
