We are grateful to Mark Condren, PPAI photojournalist of the year for the past two years, for providing such an extremely interesting, informative, entertaining and thought provoking presentation at the Hibernian Hotel, Mallow on Monday 23rd January. He showed over one hundred images covering  a wide range of topics and took questions from the large attendance on life as a professional photojournalist. He kindly provided a signed copy of his best seller  publication “The Guards” for the raffle. Thanks to all who turned up on the night. A total of 500 euro  was raised for Temple Street Children’s Hospital. Also thanks to all those members who worked behind the scenes to make it such a successful evening.

Fungi Family By Bill Power

The SACC  Nature competition was held recently in the kilmurry Lodge in Limerick.  The  competition is a regional qualifier for the national nature  finals.   Mallow had a strong contingent of members present on the day ,12 in all, with everybody getting  at least an image or more through to the finals.

Bill Power kept the flag flying for Mallow  when his image  ‘Fungi Family’ won the ‘Best Flora’ category. Another image by Bill  ‘Kingfisher on Green’ was one of 8 photos to get a score of 18 in the printed section, but was pipped at the post. Well done Bill.

The weather proved challenging but also provided some great oppurtunities for good images to be taken

Events of the day.
Jim got wet, [again], Jim got a headache, Neilly forgot his wellies and there were reports that chairman Barry Linnehan was seen wringing out his socks .

All in all a great day was had , we had good craic and banter and everyone was glad they braved the weather.

Also a big thanks to john flynn for organising the day

The club outing to Dingle scheduled for Wednesday 28 will go ahead as planned . We will depart from the arches mallow at 6am sharp.

The weather forecast looks ok with a few showers forecast
